Drahtziehstudie an Magnesium-Silber-Legierungen für medizinische Implantate (Masterarbeit)

Abstract

This thesis deals with the wire drawing forming process for three different Mg-xAg alloys (x = 6, 4 and 2 wt. −%) which was carried out as a cold forming process at room tem-perature. In addition to a reduction in diameter, this also results in a change in the micro-structure and a reduction in formability. In order to remove the resulting strain hardening for a further drawing step, the wires were then subjected to a heat treatment and a refined grain was formed by new grain formation. The process was repeated until the wire was reduced to d = 0.20 mm. Unwanted precipitates occurred in Mg-6Ag and Mg-4Ag with a diameter of d = 0.20 mm. The wires were examined on the basis of metallographic examinations, bending and tensile tests in order to determine their suitability as implant material for medical applications.
